Did you know that Genshin Impact‘s Dragonspine is inspired by the Alps? The real-world mountain range became the model for the in-game mountainous area within the Mondstadt country. In celebration of Dragonspine's first year anniversary in the game, miHoYo is holding an event that brings Dragonspine to the real world in the Alps.

The ‘Enchanting Journey of Snow and Stars' web event has players logging in on the HoYoLabs website to partake in a virtual Waypoint Lighting. Each player who visits the webpage and lights a Waypoint will contribute to the overall goal of lighting a real-life Waypoint at the Val Thorens ski resort. If successful, players will also unlock a grand Alps Waypoint Lightning Ceremony broadcast in mid-January 2022. There are also community milestones that can unlock Goulash, Moras, and Primogems claimable in-game through promotional codes

The web event takes place from December 29, 2021, until January 9, 2022. You can take part in the event here.

Dragonspine was Genshin Impact‘s first map expansion, which expanded the game world. The game has since expanded with two more countries: Inazuma, an archipelago inspired by Japanese culture, and Liyue, a port city-state inspired by Chinese culture. The initial country, Mondstadt, was inspired by general European culture.
