Mr. Sakurai held a live stream feature that went for nearly an hour-long to show off how TEKKEN‘s Kazuya plays out on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Nintendo opened their Nintendo Direct at E3 Presentation revealing Kazuya as the latest SSBU fighter. But the announcement during E3 didn't give a lot of details about how Kazuya will fit into the game. But with this new live stream, fans finally get to see how the new fighter will use his moves on SSBU.

While Kazuya definitely isn't the first guest character to come from another fighting game, he's the most complex character so far. To match TEKKEN‘s more complex moveset, Sakurai's team at Sora had to be creative in his adaptation. Working with only one face button for the special attack, the solution was to add more directions to his left-stick to give him a more diverse moveset. Diagonal directions will have their own special attacks for the case of Kazuya, adding yet another dimension to SSBU‘s gameplay. Kazuya can also transform for brief moments into his Devil Gene form. He transforms into it momentarily when executing certain moves, such as Heaven's Door, and when he uses his laser beams.

Sakurai's team also implemented Rage feature of TEKKEN 7. Rage can be activated once per stock when certain conditions are met, which will then increase Kazuya's damage output by 10%. He can then make his Heaven's Door much more impactful.

In terms of additional content, Kazuya brings with him 39 new tracks, 10 new spirits, from TEKKEN into SSBU. There will also be new Mii Fighters that players can purchase: Tales of Symphonia‘s Lloyd, Skyrim‘s Dragonborn, DMC‘s Dante, and Shantae‘s Shantae.

Kazuya arrives in SSBU on June 29, 2021.
