Standings

Day 3 began with these standings:

Game 1: ORDER (LCO) vs Evil Geniuses (LCS)

  • EG: Ahri, Diana, Lucian, Aatrox, Tryndamere

Picks

  • ORD: Urgot, Viego, Twisted Fate, Vayne, Nautilus
  • EG: Gangplank, Jarvan IV, Sylas, Ezreal, Alistar

Evil Geniuses all across the board had the advantage in lane. Jojopyun, seemingly wanting to redeem himself from his performance in the previous games, performed exceptionally well in the laning phase. ORDER didn't give up however, as Kisee used his Destiny/Gate well to bring his team back into the game.

The two major fights both happened around the Rift Herald. The first fight caused no casualties, but ORD successfully managed to push EG away from it. ORD then used the Rift Herald to get some gold into their pockets and close the gap even by just a little. The second fight went more in the Geniuses' favor, a triumph which only grew their lead even more.

It then became a very by-the-book victory for the NA representatives: get baron, push lanes, and destroy the Nexus.

Result: EG win in 24:30 (ORD 6 – 18 EG)

Game 2: G2 Esports (LEC) vs ORDER (LCO)

  • ORD: Lucian, Ahri, Twisted Fate, Gwen, Ryze

Picks

  • G2: Gnar, Wukong, LeBlanc, Zeri, Renata Glasc
  • ORD: Tryndamere, Evelynn, Zed, Jhin, Nautilus

ORDER opted for a more assassin-y comp for their second of the day against the EU representatives G2 Esports. Despite this, G2 were the ones who did the assassinating.

Evelynn simply was not working in the pro level play, and caPs' LeBlanc proved to be the better assassin against Kisee's Zed. That being said, it's respectable that ORD took the risk of picking off-meta champions for this game.

Although G2 held the lead for the majority of this game, ORDER looked more comfortable on these champions. Unfortunately they were simply outclassed this game. Still, the OCE reps didn't give up. They threw everything and the kitchen sink at G2, but nothing stuck.

G2 Esports stay undefeated after this victory. caPs LeBlanc was a piece of art this game and he dominated the whole game.

Result: G2 win in 24:31 (G2 18 – 7 ORD)

  • IW: Graves, Gwen, Wukong, Xayah, Leona

Picks

  • PSG: Gnar, Lee Sin, Ahri, Aphelios, Renata Glasc
  • IW: Ornn, Volibear, LeBlanc, Tristana, Nautilus

This game was a woozy.

There were fights happening literally every minute of the game. For PSG Talon, their Ahri and Aphelios are doing the heavy lifting during the fights. Both carries' damage output during every skirmish that happened were atrocious, and at many points were the turning point of a fight. On the other hand, IW's Tristana and Nautilus allowed for an easy engage along with Ornn.

At around the 17-minute mark, PSG's composition proved to be the better one. They took the lead in this very close game and kept it. Their champions looked “activated” as every fight that happened from this point on went in their favor.

Result: PSG win in 23:23 (PSG 19 – 4 IW)

Game 4: Royal Never Give Up (LPL) vs RED Canids (CBLOL)

Bans

  • RNG: LeBlanc, Gangplank, Ahri, Zoe, Akali
  • RED: Camille, Volibear, Ezreal, Jarvan IV, Graves

Picks

  • RNG: Gwen, Viego, Galio, Lucian, Nami
  • RED: Jax, Wukong, Viktor, Draven, Nautilus

RED Canids opened up with a level 1 play that granted TitaN on Draven an incredibly early first blood. Unfortunately for him, this would be one of the only times he would see a lead over his counterpart in GALA.

Early game though, RED Canids looked exceptional. A bunch of creative plays strung together made them look on par against the behemoths in RNG. Xiaohu put a stop to this, as he didn't wait for his ultimate to roam topside. His botlane duo were also beginning to outperform their opponents, as they show the prowess of the Lucian-Nami combo.

TitaN was continuously abused in lane, maybe partly motivated by the level 1 play. By midgame, it was already a one-sided slaughter by RNG. GALA even managed to snag a Pentakill!

Result: RNG win in 27:51 (RNG 30 – 9 RED)

  • AZE: Lucian, Gwen, Ahri, Tristana, Kalista

Picks

  • SGB: Camille, Kindred, Twisted Fate, Ziggs, Leona
  • AZE: Gnar, Jarvan IV, Galio, Miss Fortune, Renata Glasc

This whole game was quite a one-sided affair in favor of Saigon Buffalo. The early lead was held by AZE, primarily due to the level 2 gank that Dimitry did on Jarvan IV, going from his red buff straight to bot lane.

Twisted Fate and Galio, both team's mid lane picks, are both made to roam. And roam they did. Both champions facilitated their own team's plays in either side lanes, but AZE's comms looked split. In multiple occasions, they seemed like they were not all on the same page.

SGB's comp revealed itself to be the superior, scrappier team. Their champions had more damage, as Camille was put quite ahead of Gnar, the latter being called an “orange buff” due to how much he was being killed.

Saigon Buffalo close out with an insanely dominant W over the LLA representatives.

Result: SGB win in 20:39 (SGB 20 – 7 AZE)

Game 6: T1 (LCK) vs DetonatioN FocusMe (DFM)

  • DFM: Caitlyn, Twisted Fate, Lucian, Yuumi, Aphelios

Picks

  • T1: Jayce, Wukong, LeBlanc, Jhin, Pyke
  • DFM: Sett, Viego, Ahri, Ezreal, Karma

This was business as usual for T1. As many might have predicted, T1 proved to be the better team once again, and were in control of this game pretty much the whole time. DFM only took the lead once, and it was only by 19 gold.

Against T1 though, DFM held their own. They were answering T1's aggression quite well and prevented them from running away with the lead, up until the 10 minute mark.

T1 look unstoppable.

Result: T1 win in 24:42 (T1 26 – 11 DFM)
