Gunzilla, a new game developer formed in 2020, has recently released its first-ever title called “Off the Grid” a third-person battle royale shooter with a distinct cyberpunk theme. The main aspect of Off The Grid is that it focuses on a deep story narrative and player progression that reveals more and more details surrounding the game world with each and every match that players will drop into. As Gunzilla's way of showing how deep the story in Off The Grid will be, they have also officially announced Neill Blomkamp, a famous movie director known for his work on films such as District 9 and Elysium, has been brought on to work as a chief visionary officer.

In an exclusive article written over at Gamespot, Neill explains several key elements about the narrative of the game that he feels will make it stand out from other third-person shooters or battle royale games of the past.

Other details include the existence of three factions within the game, where players can assist in completing missions and challenges for these factions. Along with your typical battle royale gameplay structure of looting, surviving, and battling against enemy players, each and every match will serve as an opportunity to push the game's narrative further. This bold new take on a battle royale shooter has been dubbed by the team over at Gunzilla as “Battle Royale 2.0”.
While this is a very impressive claim to make, the teaser trailer shown, while fairly interesting, shows off no gameplay. Hopefully, with all this boasting of pushing the Battle Royale genre to the next level, its gameplay reveal will be able to live up to these heightened expectations.
Off The Grid will be released in 2023 for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
