Immediately following the rebranding announcement, LOL Champions Korea adopts a new format beginning in the 2021 season. The incoming season for the defending world champion region will be an exciting affair for all involved teams. The changes mostly apply to a brand new playoffs format that will give all qualified teams a chance to take it all.
All roads

The region experienced a windfall of expectations after a South Korean team won the world championship last year. The changes made to the South Korean league format will no doubt help mold this year's Worlds challengers from the strongest region in the world. South Korea's ten best League of Legends teams will face off in an exciting 2021 season.
The initial changes affect the league's group stage. The Korean league returns to a best-of-three double round-robin format. Subsequently, the new playoffs format will see six teams qualify, from five teams in the previous season.

Meanwhile, the top two teams from the regular season automatically advance to the second round of the playoffs where they will wait for their opponents. The tournament culminates in an exciting best-of-five grand finals matchup.
Initial reports state that the LCK considered adopting a double-elimination playoff format like in the LCS and LEC. Unfortunately, scheduling constraints prevented the LCK's shift to a completely new playoff format. In short, the LCK will continue to play by its own rules. LOL Champions Korea kicks off its Spring Split beginning on January 13.
