Taoqi is one of the characters available during the launch of Wuthering Waves, one that players might already own thanks to their Beginner rolls. In this guide, we will teach players how to build their Taoqi, including the best weapon and Echoes to equip.

Taoqi Build Guide
Do note that this guide is for the currently available Weapons and Echoes in the game. Should new weapons or Echoes get introduced that are better, we will be sure to update this guide.
Taoqi Kit Overview
We already have a guide detailing Taoqi's kit. However, let's go through it quickly for the sake of this guide.
Taoqi is an SR (4-star) Broadblade character, whose role in a team is either as a Sub-DPS or a Shielder. Their kit involves parrying and countering attacks
Taoqi's Basic Attack, Mid-Air Attack, and Dodge Counter all deal Havoc Damage to enemies they hit. Her Heavy Attack is different from other Heavy Attacks in the game, in that it does not immediately deal damage to enemies. Instead, it makes Taoqi enter the Rocksteady Defense state.
While in this state, Taoqi will receive reduced damage. Additionally, if Taoqi is attacked while in this state, or if 3 seconds pass, she will use her Strategic Parry, which deals damage to enemies.
Her Resonance Skill, Fortified Defense, deals Havoc Damage to surrounding enemies, heals Taoqi, and generates 3 Rocksteady Shields, which reduce damage taken.
Her Resonance Liberation, Unmovable, deals a large amount of Havoc DMG in one attack to nearby enemies.
Taoqi Skill Leveling Priority
First level Taoqi's Forte Circuit, as it increases the shield amount her TImed Counters give. Follow it up with her Resonance Skill, which increases the damage and healing it does. Next is the Resonance Liberation to increase its damage, and then the Basic Attack to increase the parry damage. Close it up with the Intro Skill.
Make sure to also level the Inherent Skills when they become available, as well as the other nodes in the Skill Tree.
Taoqi Best Weapons Guide
All values are at Rank 5
Dauntless Evernight: When Intro Skill is released, increases ATK by 16% and DEF by 30%, lasting for 15s.
This is the best weapon in the game right now for Taoqi if she's your Sub-DPS as it gives her everything that she needs. The weapon gives her DEF via both the weapon's substat and its Skill, giving her up to 92% additional defense at Rank 5 Level 90. This is important as Taoqi's skills all scale from DEF.
The bonus ATK% is also helpful for when she is doing her normal attacks before and after she does her full damage rotation.
Discord: When Resonance Skill is released, restores Concerto Energy by 16. This effect can be triggered 1 time every 20s.
This weapon is what you should equip on Taoqi if you plan on primarily making her your support. The weapon's Skill allows you to quickly charge up her Concerto, which in turn allows the player to quickly use her Outro Skill, which provides Resonance Skill DMG Deepen to the next character.
Additionally, the Energy Regen from the weapon's substat allows the player to quickly charge up her Resonance Liberation, adding a bit of damage whenever Taoqi enters the field.
Originite: Type 1: When Resonance Skill is released, restores HP by 6%. This effect can be triggered 1 time(s) every 12s.
This weapon is the F2P weapon for Sub-DPS Taoqi as it has a DEF substat, which as we mentioned her entire kit scales off of. Additionally, it will also increase the amount of HP she recovers when she uses her Resonance Skill, further improving her survivability.
Broadblade of Voyager: When Resonance Skill is released, restores Resonance Energy by 12. This effect can be triggered 1 time(s) every 20s.
This weapon is another good F2P Weapon for Taoqi as it allows her to quickly charge up her Resonance Liberation thanks to the Energy Regen and flat Resonance Energy regen. The only downside of this is that as it does not give and DEF, you will need to make up for it with her Echoes.
Taoqi Best Echoes Guide
It's important to remember that the ideal allocation of Echoes is 1 4-Cost Echo, 2 3-Cost Echoes, and 2 1-Cost Echoes.
Sonata Effect: 2-piece Sun-sinking Eclipse, 2-piece Moonlit Clouds
- Havoc DMG +10%
- Energy Regen increases by 10%
- Main Echo: Crownless or Bell-Borne Geochelone
This is perhaps the best Echoes build for Taoqi, providing a good balance between her Support capabilities and her Sub-DPS capabilities. Using Crownless as the Main Echo will give her more damage, while using Bell-Borne Geochelone will provide more support to her team.
When using this set, get DEF% on the 4-cost, Energy Regen or DEF% for the 3-costs, and DEF% on the 1-costs
Sonata Effect: 5-piece Sun-sinking Eclipse
- Havoc DMG +10%
- Havoc DMG +7.5% after releasing Basic Attack or Heavy Attack. This effect stacks up to 4 times, each stack lasts 15 s
- Main Echo: Crownless
Using this Echoes set focuses more on the Sub-DPS side of Taoqi, giving her as much Havoc DMG% Bonus as possible from the 5-piece set. Add to that the buffs from Crownless, and you have a Taoqi that can deal a lot of damage.
When using this set, get Crit Rate or Crit DMG on the 4-cost, DEF% or Havoc DMG% on the 3-cost (one of each can work), and DEF% on both 1-costs.
Sonata Effect: 4-piece Moonlit Clouds
- Energy Regen increases by 10%
- After using Outro SKill, increases the ATK of the next Resonator by 22.5% for 15s
- Main Echo: Bell-Borne Geochelone or Impermanence Heron
This set of Echoes focuses on Taoqi's support capabilities, both by allowing her to charge up her Resonance Liberation faster, as well as providing the Main DPS with a 22.5% ATK buff upon using her Outro Skill.
Bell-Borne Geochelone gives the team protection from up to three hits, as well as some additional DMG buffs as long as they don't get hit. Impermanence Heron, on the other hand, helps Taoqi charge her Resonance Liberation faster.
When using this set, get DEF% on all Echoes, although the player can also choose to get Energy Regen% on the 3-cost echoes.
The substats that players should aim for remain consistent regardless of which of the above sets the player chooses to use on Taoqi. That is, they should get more Energy Regen, then DEF%, Flat DEF, and finally Resonance Skill and Liberation DMG.
Taoqi Teams Guide
As mentioned above, Taoqi can serve as both a Sub-DPS or as a Support. As such, here is a sample team builds for Taoqi:
Havoc/Spectro Rover, Baizhi, Taoqi
This is a good template for a team that utilizes Taoqi. Whether the player equips her as a Sub-DPS or as a pure support character, the team will look like this.
Rover in both forms deal quite a bit of damage from their Resonance Skill, especially Spectro Rover. As such, they can benefit a lot from Taoqi's Outro Skill which has Resonance Skill DMG Deepen. Alternatively, players can replace the Rover with any DPS they own, preferably one that has high Resonance Skill DMG.
Taoqi will provide the team with Shields, as well as her Outro Skill's buffs. Baizhi, or Verina, can serve as the team's Healer, providing healing and buffs to the Main DPS alongside Taoqi.
