Lance McDonald, a man known for his antics in finding game secrets, has now revealed on a Twitter post that he has finally discovered a cheat code in NieR: Automata. After hours spent on reverse engineering, he finally figured out a method in skipping the entire game to jump straight to the ending and unlock the bonus modes. He has yet to reveal the full process on how it's done, but he hinted that it will require beating the first boss to accomplish the goal. He even tagged the game's director, Yoko Taro, for confirmation.

The game was released back in 2017 where the developers mentioned that there are secrets for game modders to uncover. After sharing his findings, Yoko Taro officially acknowledged that this was the final secret that has yet to be revealed. It nearly took 4 years for its discovery.

Unlocking Ending E will give the players access to an arcade shooter where the player is tasked to destroy the game's credits. Once finished, the player is given the option to assist others in the same task. If accepted, the player loses all of his or her save files. It isn't easy to venture to that ending as attaining it will require a Herculean grinding effort.

The new cheat code allows you to skip past the entire game and proceed to the options.

With McDonald's discovery comes a lot of talking points about the game's creativity. The story's narrative centers on technology and machineries where there are aspects in the game where the player is tasked to uncover the hidden secrets. The same concept even applies to the game's engineering secrets.
