Ubisoft holds a shaky reputation from their buggy releases and microtransaction practices. However, they struck big when they proactively warned their players of a potential danger they are currently facing. Untoward individuals have allegedly reached out to players under the guise of offering sponsorships. Ubisoft strongly condemned these emails stating that it “is not an official Ubisoft email.” Subsequently, the developer urged their players to reach out if they encounter similar people.
The real WATCH_DOGS
We are aware some players may have received a suspicious email regarding sponsorship. We can confirm this is not an official Ubisoft email. If you receive something similar please do not respond or engage, but contact us directly. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/iQ7qF1kfCq

Con artists attempting to scam people for money or for information have been around since forever. This new case is not entirely unique but Ubisoft's response to the matter is commendable. Their praiseworthy action helps to lower the potential number of victims from this specific scam. Ubisoft holds the responsibility to protect its millions of players around the world.
Fans quickly responded to the announcement with mixed feedback. Several players brought attention to issues that weren't related to the potential email attack. Fortunately, several players involved in the email issue stepped forward to tell their story. Ubisoft reached out to players affected by the potential attack and the player base responded in kind. This case offers a good instance of the developers looking out for their loyal players. Hopefully, many other developers follow suit.
Ideally, the developers catch these heinous people before they cause considerable damage. Undoubtedly, players feel a little bit safer with these kinds of actions. These kinds of cases usually reach news sites once irreparable damage is inflicted. Fortunately, this cause caught the attention of the game developers early on.
The next phase
Recently, Ubisoft announced its involvement in an upcoming Star Wars game. Lucasfilm Games formerly only worked with EA for all Star Wars game adaptations but that all changed with the shocking Ubisoft game announcement early this month. The game in question features an open-world adventure set in the Star Wars universe. Hopefully, the developers deliver a worthwhile offering for diehard fans of the franchise.
