Five years after its announcement, we finally have more news about the magical roguelite shooter Witchfire.

Witchfire Release Date: Early Access on Q4 2022

The gun-slinging magic-wielding action was showcased in the Witchfire Summer Game Fest 2022 Trailer. First revealed late 2017, you can now experience this first person dark fantasy roguelite shooter later this year when the game goes into Early Access.

The Early Access will only be available through Epic Games Store, and therefore exclusive to the PC. The Astronauts, developers of Witchfire, has been working with Epic since 2007. The use of Unreal Engine on Witchfire and the presence of the game on the Epic Games Store is “just another example of [The Astronauts and Epic] cooperating on a thing.” They also cited Supergiant Games' popular roguelite Hades, saying “we very much like the road of [Hades]. It also started as an Early Access game exclusive to Epic Games Store. That idea seems to have worked very nicely for them, and inspired us to do the same.” Despite this, the game itself will be coming to other platforms as well, as confirmed by the developers on their blog post.

Witchfire is coming to the Epic Games Store in Q4 2022 as an Early Access, with other platforms confirmed for the full game but no confirmed release date.
