Genshin Impact’s Inazuma update brought in a lot of good content, including new quests, locations, and bad guys to beat up. However, not all foes are pushovers, and some of them are dangerous enough to wipe your whole party. One of them is the Perpetual Mechanical Array which can reassemble into different forms each with their own kind of attacks. Travelers must defeat this boss in order to get Perpetual Hearts, which you need to ascend Kamisato Ayaka

How to Find The Perpetual Mechanical Array in Genshin Impact

The Perpetual Mechanical Array can be found here, just off the coast

If you’re new to Inazuma, finding it is not an obvious task and doesn’t even appear on the map until you’ve discovered it once. Your goal is to reach Jinren Island, which is directly north of Narukami Island.

Side note: If you haven’t unlocked the Shrine of Seven on the island of Ritou, do it before exploring further. It makes exploration significantly easier, and instantly shows you the location of Jinren Island on the map.

Once you’ve reached Jinren Island, there’s a small rock hill with an Electrogranum station on top. The station grants you an Electrograna, which can launch you towards the direction of a Thunder Sphere within range. In this case, you’ll have to launch yourself through a chain of Thunder Spheres, towards an indigo-looking portal high up in the sky. This portal warps you somewhere deep under the neighboring sea, directly beside the boss arena.

Second side note: If you’re planning to farm this boss, it’s ideal to bring a Portable Waypoint and set it beside the arena. This is so that you don’t have to do the long trek every time just to fight the boss repeatedly.

Preparing to Fight the Perpetual Mechanical Array

The boss is a tough nut to crack, and coming in unprepared can spell a lot of trouble, especially for undergeared teams or bad compositions.

Elemental teams work best because the boss has a relatively low resistance to elemental damage. Precise use of amplifying elemental reactions (Melt, Vaporise) can easily chunk the boss’ HP. Perpetual Mechanical Array is a lot harder to fight using Physical Damage because of the boss’ high Phys resistance. However, Physical Damage is still viable to use as long as Superconduct’s Phys Res shred is utilized properly – which makes Electro Traveler quite handy in this case.

Most well-built teams should be able to beat this boss, as long as the composition is well-rounded in terms of offensive and defensive capabilities. This means that you also have to bring some sort of defenses, in order to sustain your characters during the whole fight. Strong healers like Diona, Bennett, Qiqi, and Barbara will have great use and make the fight comfier. Shielders like Zhongli, Diona, and Albedo, are great for making the fight safer and even faster because shields prevent interruption when taking damage.

If you have some materials to spare, using food consumables that buff your team’s offense and defense is also a great idea.

Fighting the Perpetual Mechanical Array

The boss has two main phases: the Normal Mode, and the Defensive mode.

During Normal Mode, the boss can transform into different forms, each with its own attack. The boss having different forms isn’t actually dangerous, and it even makes it easier to see what move it’s going to make. One of its moves is an orbital strike, which alerts you with a red beam on the ground before the attack strikes down. You can dodge this by dashing away after seeing the alert. Another one is the rocket form, which turns the boss into a rocket and flies up, before striking at the player’s current position. Dodge this by dashing away from the red circle shown on the ground.

Then it has the sword slash, where it transforms into a sword and slashes the player clockwise to its position. Dash towards the left as the sword swings at you. Finally, there is the blade spin, in which the boss transforms into a spinning blade, and strikes the player counter-clockwise from its position. You can dash this by dashing forward to the right, making the boss overshoot its attack.

After reaching a threshold HP, the boss will then go to its Defensive Mode. During this mode, the boss’ core will turn invulnerable and summon 4 Ruin Sentinels to fight you. In order to turn off this mode and weaken the boss, the player must defeat the Ruin Sentinel highlighted with a ring.

After beating the Ruin Sentinels, the boss will go into a Weakened State which is a massive opening where the boss is down and immobilized. If you fail to defeat the boss during this state, it will return to Normal Mode, and start the boss phases anew.

Genshin Impact‘s Perpetual Mechanical Array is a tough boss, especially for those fighting it for the first time. But try it enough times, with effective use of abilities, and this boss will be a cakewalk for most.
