The New York Giants made some significant moves this offseason, letting Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney walk in free agency before completing a blockbuster trade for Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers and drafting Malik Nabers with the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Still, there are some holes on the Giants' roster, and there are some players who potentially could be targets in a trade this summer that would help the team.

The Giants are heading into an interesting year. It is year three of the Joe Schoen-Brian Daboll regime, and usually year three of a regime, there is an expectation for the team to contend. That is not necessarily the case for the Giants this year, which is unusual, given that the team made the playoffs in year one of the Schoen-Daboll era.

Year two went about as bad as you could have drawn it up. After signing Daniel Jones to a big contract, he performed really poorly and suffered two significant injuries, leading to the front office pursuing a trade up for Drake Maye in the draft. Now, with a reasonable out in Jones' contract after the 2024 season, it seems like this could be his last year with the Giants.

As for expectations for the 2024 season, there certainly are goals for the roster to look like one that is capable of winning, independent of quarterback play. Letting staples like Barkley and McKinney walk and bringing in Burns and Nabers are huge decisions by Schoen, and that better result in those parts of the team being better.

Still, the Giants would like to do their best to try to win as many games in 2024, as it could keep Schoen and especially Daboll's job secure for 2025. Let's go into two players who make sense as trade candidates for the Giants.

Greg Newsome II, CB, Browns

It is not a given that the Browns will trade Greg Newsome II, but it is unknown whether or not he fits the team's long-term future, given the contracts that have been given out already. It would not be crazy to see Cleveland trade Newsome to get some assets back to help other areas of the team. When looking at the depth chart, the Giants could use a cornerback, especially a young, solid one who is under contract for the next two seasons.

Currenly, New York has former first-round pick Deonte Banks slated to be the No. 1 corner, with unproven players like Cor'Dale Flott and Dru Phillips slated to take the two other spots. Banks is a promising player, but it is unknown how he will fare going against the top wide receivers each week. He struggled at times when facing top receivers like Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams. He is a good young piece, but not someone to bet on being a shutdown corner, while the rest of the position group is filled with question marks.

Adding Newsome to the Giants' cornerback room would provide a big boost, if possible.

Dan Moore Jr., OT, Steelers

The position group with arguably the biggest questions for the last decade for the Giants has been the offensive line, and while Schoen brought in some players in free agency that hopefully should help out, there are still concerns. Evan Neal is slated to be the starting right tackle, but he has disappointed in his first two years after being drafted with the No. 7 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Dan Moore Jr. is likely slated for the bench with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, especially after the team drafted Troy Fatanu and has Broderick Jones in place as the right tackle. The Giants' next best option at right tackle is likely Jermaine Eluemunor, who is practicing at left guard.

Having your left guard as the swing tackle option when you have a questionable right tackle in Neal is a tough situation. Adding Moore to provide some depth would be a solid move, if a trade is possible for Schoen to pull off.
