Now that Joe Schoen's time as the New York Giants' general manager has begun, the next order of business is finding the team's next head coach.

Brian Flores appeared on New York's radar quickly and will interview with the franchise on Thursday. There, he will have to explain himself for his swift exit from the Miami Dolphins and their general manager, Chris Grier, who Schoen has worked with before. Per SNY's Ralph Vacchiano:

“That’s certainly one of the things we’re going to discuss with Brian,” Mara said. “I discussed it with him briefly when I spoke to him a week ago. But we’re going to spend some time on that when he gets here.”

There were other issues with Flores too, according to reports, including an apparent rift with Dolphins franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. There are also concerns over what was a high rate of turnover on his coaching staff.

Vacchiano added that Mara still has a great interest in Flores and that he called him about New York's head coaching vacancy before Schoen was hired.

“I saw he had been interviewing elsewhere, so I just wanted to let him know ‘Before you make a decision, just know that we have interest in you,’” Mara said. “‘Make whatever decision you feel like you need to make for you and your family, but just know that we do have interest in you and once I get the general manager search done we will get back to you.’”

Schoen said that a coach's willingness to enhance the strengths of Daniel Jones will be a deciding factor in his search for the Giants' newest head coach. Whether Flores will be the guy to work with him has yet to be determined.
