The New York Giants are officially in the market for a quarterback of the future. According to Dan Hope of 11 Warriors, Ohio State signal-caller Dwayne Haskins will meet with the New York Giants for a pre-draft visit later this week. Haskins had previously met with the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins.

Once considered the top quarterback prospect in the 2019 class, the Buckeyes' breakout star has seen his draft stock dip somewhat over the past few weeks despite impressive performances at the NFL Combine and Ohio State's Pro Day. NBC Sports' Peter King recently reported that he's heard Haskins could be the fourth quarterback off the board come April 25th, ostensibly taken behind Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, Missouri's Drew Lock, and Duke's Daniel Jones.

Haskins' rise as a prospect over the last year, even if he's no longer considered a likely top-10 pick, has been nothing short of meteoric. He threw for 50 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and 4,831 yards while completing a whopping 70 percent of his passes as a first-year starter in 2018. The redshirt sophomore was at his best when it mattered most, too, throwing for a combined 14 touchdowns and one interception over the Buckeyes’ last three games, including a key matchup against fourth-ranked and longtime rival Michigan in which he tossed six touchdowns and zero picks.

It's been conventional wisdom for awhile that New York would be best suited to part ways with franchise quarterback Eli Manning. General manager Dave Gettleman and company seem committed to starting the two-time Super Bowl winner in 2019, though, setting the stage for a rookie to sit behind him as an understudy before taking the reins next season.

The Giants own the No. 7 and No. 17 picks in the first round, the latter of which was acquired from the Cleveland Browns in the Odell Beckham trade.
