New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley is having a special season and could break some of Eric Dickerson's records, and that's something the Hall of Famer is not cheering for.

When asked by TMZ Sports about if he wanted Barkley to break his record, Dickerson's answer was simple.

“HELL NO!!!”

Dickerson said he really does like what Barkley is doing and is rooting for success for him, but he wants to keep his records. Barkley has already racked up 1,753 total yards from scrimmage which is closing in on Dickerson's rookie record of 2,212. Barkley also has had 12 games with 100 yards from scrimmage, which is one game shy of tying Dickerson's rookie record of 13.

There is the old saying that records are meant to be broken, but that is not something that Dickerson is interested in seeing.

“People who don't have records say that,” Dickerson replied.

“When you have records, you don't want 'em broken. When you get to my age, you want to hold on to them as long as you can!”

Even if Barkley does break some of Dickerson's record, there is one that probably won't be broken. So far this season Barkley has rushed for 1,124 yards, which is well short of Dickerson's record of 1,808 yards he rushed for as a rookie. To break that record Barkley would need to average 228 yards per game over the final three, and although that could happen, chances of winning the lottery might be higher than that. Barkley will get his first chance to break some records on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
