Sunday night's match with the Cleveland Browns presents an opportunity for New York Giants safety Jabrill Peppers to play his former squad. Peppers was part of the Odell Beckham Jr. trade during the 2019 offseason, which apparently caught the former Michigan standout by surprise.

Peppers recently opened up about the role he played in the Beckham deal, and as it turns out, he didn't even know he was the one being sent in the opposite direction to the Giants.

“I was actually excited about the trade, thinking, ‘We just got Odell,'” Jabrill Peppers said Friday, via Mollie Walker of the New York Post. “And I keep looking and then I’m like, ‘Oh s–t. I’m not even here no more.’

“And then [former Browns general manager John] Dorsey called me like 15 minutes after that, and I had already seen the news. I actually spoke to [Giants G.M. Dave] Gettleman before I spoke to Dorsey. It is what it is. That’s the nature of this league. Can’t take it personal. But I’m happy. I’m happy with the outcome. It’s working out for me.”

Jabrill Peppers fell victim to the business side of the NFL. He had to find out from the news that he was being traded to the Giants instead of being told by the Browns' front office beforehand. As he said, however, he understands how things work in the league, and he holds no ill will against his former at this point.

On Sunday, he will have a chance to show Cleveland just what they're missing.
