Gilbert Burns is set to take on Khamzat Chimaev at the highly anticipated UFC 273 in April. The grappling exchanges are something that many are looking forward to because of their contrasting styles.

Khamzat Chimaev seems to be the boogeyman of the welterweight division and not everyone is willing to fight him. Gilbert Burns wants to become UFC champion and knows that means fighting everyone.

“To be champion, you need to fight against whoever,” Burns told MMA Junkie's Danny Segura in Spanish, as translated by Segura.

He added: “Whoever the UFC puts in front of me, I'll fight. I wanted to fight with Colby, but he had a fight, so Khamzat was the only one that wanted to fight. I know he's a big risk, and he's No. 11 and very tough, but if I want to be champion, I need to fight everyone.”

Gilbert Burns has been working hard to get back into the title picture and he is looking to fight Kamaru Usman again. The Brazilian had his moments against the UFC champion but was knocked out in the third round.

“I made many mistakes against Kamaru, and I was able to look at the fight and identify all the mistakes and see what I can do better,” Burns said. “I've been working extremely hard to earn the next opportunity for the belt.”

UFC 273 will be Gilbert Burns' opportunity to prove that he is not a gatekeeper at welterweight. Khamzat Chimaev will be looking to show that he is worth the hype and he deserves the next title shot.
