PGA member Brendon Todd isn't having the best day of his career at the Player's Championship Sunday afternoon. Stepping up to the infamous 17th hole at Sawgrass, a course and hole renowned for its difficulty, Todd had hoped to inch his way into a top 30 finish in the tournament. Unfortunately for the veteran golfer, he proceeded to hit one of the worst shots you'll ever see at the course.
In hindsight, it may have been just a bit to the right (Video via Jeff Eisenbard):

Stepping up to the tee tied for 38th place on the weekend with a score of -1, Todd fired a rocket towards the green that, while it had more than enough power, curved sharply towards the right and near the wrong island. Thankfully, nobody needed to tell the veteran how badly he misjudged the shot, as he immediately dropped his club and laughed off the embarrassing mistake.
Article Continues BelowServing as the course's signature hole, the âIsland Greenâ presents one of the most difficult challenges for golfers in the entire PGA Tour. While only 137 yards from the tee, the hole is surrounded by water and a small bunker, forcing members to land the ball exactly on the green if they are to escape above par. While it's not unusual for golfers to misjudge the distance from the tee and end up in the water, others have nailed it perfectly with nine holes in one over the course's history.
While Todd would end up with a triple-bogey on 17 and finish with a -3 in the tournament, it was not the only highlight he provided over the weekend. Working on the sixth tee on Friday morning, Todd scored his first career ace with a gorgeous shot on the par 3.
Something tells us that Todd will likely remember his ace a bit more fondly than his island mishap going forward.
