Greg Norman came under fire Wednesday after attempting to dodge questions regarding the murder of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Norman, who was discussing the upstart Saudi Golf League at a media event at the Centurion Club, where the LIV Invitational Series' first event will be held, downplayed Khashoggi's murder by simply stating, “we've all made mistakes,” via the Times UK.
“Everybody has owned up to it, right? It has been spoken about, from what I’ve read, going on what you guys reported. Take ownership, no matter what it is. Look, we’ve all made mistakes and you just want to learn from those mistakes and how you can correct them going forward.”
His nonchalant answer to the questions about the controversial death of Khashoggi didn't sit well with many fans, who were already unconvinced about the financial backing of the LIV Invitational Series, which is receiving an influx of cash from the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the PIF.

There’s not many countries that can stand up and be proud of that. They can’t be proud of their past — there’s a lot of countries in this world that have a cross to bear too — but they are looking after the younger generation.”
Norman was recently asked about the controversial March execution of 81 men in Saudi Arabia, to which he also issued a sensitive response.
“I got a lot of messages but quite honestly I look forward,” said the 67-year-old. “I don’t look back. I don’t look into the politics of things. I’m not going to get into the quagmire of whatever else happens in someone else’s world. I heard about it and just kept moving on.”
A handful of PGA Tour players have expressed interest in joining the LIV Invitational Series, including Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, and Sergio Garcia, among others.
