Ravaged by injuries, drama, and team chemistry issues, the Memphis Grizzlies had a largely disappointing experience last season and only won a total of 22 games.
Not only was it the first time for them to miss the playoffs in seven seasons, but All-Stars Mike Conley and Marc Gasol were both on the sidelines for a large number of games. The big Spaniard, who had alleged run-ins with then head coach David Fizdale, was reportedly unhappy with the team’s overall direction and performance.
All parties, though, seem to have moved on and are primed for a bounce-back season. NBA.com panelists David Aldrige, Tas Melas, and Shaun Powell seem to agree with this conclusion.
Up until this point, the Grizzlies have had quite a successful offseason. They drafted former Michigan State Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr. with the third overall pick in the last draft, signed Kyle Anderon to a multi-year contract, and traded for veteran Garrett Temple. All these players bring a tough and hard-nosed defensive mentality that aligns perfectly with Memphis’ Grit and Grind mantra.

Most importantly, they’re getting back their dynamic duo of Gasol and Conley, who are finally healthy and ready to lead again.
Given all these factors, it's not unworldly to think that they can double their win total this season. Armed with a solid group of scrappy veterans and talented young players, they have a real chance to make a lot of noise in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.
Only time will tell if the Grizzlies do regain their lost form; but right now, the other 29 teams should watch out and take notes because #FearTheBear could be back and stronger than ever.
