Last summer, Harrison Barnes decided to take the offer from the Dallas Mavericks with the hopes of continuing the success he had during his time with the Golden State Warriors, However, 12 games into the season, his new team is at the bottom of the standings and have the worst record in the league with 2-10.

It is definitely not the start he imagined he'd have with the Mavs but what's more frustrating for the team is the lack of offense they have been generating in games and the amount of injuries they have already faced this early in the campaign.

When asked about his thoughts on the situation he and the team are in right now, Barnes remained positive and made it clear that they will continue to compete despite the adversities they have.

“You have to have a little perspective. Being in such a great situation, winning a lot of games, I see what it takes.

“This is starting from the bottom. We’re banged up, but the guys here are competing. We’re going to figure it out.”

Barnes also added that it is not easy losing this much, but now on his fifth season in the NBA, he fully understands what it takes to win.

“It’s difficult. You put out a good effort and you’re right there. That’s starting to become a trend and it hurts. But that’s the difference between winning and losing. There’s no margin for error.”

Credit must be given to the 24-year-old North Carolina product as even if he and Andrew Bogut were not able to experience losing 10 games last season with the Warriors, he still has a lot of optimism left with him and believes that they can still come out of this deep hole they're currently in.

Their record may be the worst in the league today, but if there's any silver lining for the Mavericks, there's nowhere else to go but up for them. They will also get Dirk Nowitzki back soon and with Barnes' contributions, it's still not entirely impossible for them to turn their fortunes around and start stringing a few wins together and even compete for a playoff spot.
