Los Angeles Lakers big man Andre Drummond is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and it looks like he's exploring his options–which might include the Miami Heat.

Of course with free agency nearing, any action that players take will be put under the microscope and analyzed. Such is the case for Drummond, who was spotted in Miami just a day before the August 2 start of free agency.

Of course, it sparked speculations that he might join the Heat. However, it is not without basis. After all, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald recently reported that the South Beach franchise would consider signing the big man in free agency should Erik Spoelstra be willing to play him alongside Bam Adebayo.

Drummond is an option if Spoelstra is willing to change his approach and play him with Adebayo. The Heat had some interest before he signed with the Lakers and another pursuit wouldn’t surprise me.

Andre Drummond joined the Lakers after reaching a buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers when they failed to trade him at the 2021 deadline. However, he proved to be a poor fit alongside Anthony Davis as he struggled to get into rhythm with the team before eventually falling out of favor from head coach Frank Vogel.

While the team repeatedly expressed during the 2020-21 season that they want to sign Drummond long-term, it appears more likely they are headed to Splitsville. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if it means Drummond will join the Heat as he looks to revive his career.
