The Miami Heat were shorthanded on Wednesday night when they took on the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks. It didn't matter much, though, as the Heat still emerged with a statement victory against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co., 113-104.

Caleb Martin got the spot start for Miami and boy did he step up when his team needed him the most. The 26-year-old exploded for 28 points on 9-of-12 shooting and 6-of-8 from three-point territory. Martin also added eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks to round out his excellent performance on the evening. Heat star Bam Adebayo could not help but heap praise on his teammate after Tuesday's heroics:

Adebayo needed just one word to describe Martin: “dog.”

The Bucks had no answer for Caleb Martin, who had his best performance in a Heat uniform since joining the squad during the offseason. Miami needed him in a big way as well with both Adebayo and Jimmy Butler forced to sit this one out due to respective injuries. Markieff Morris still remains sidelined and it's the same for Victor Oladipo.

This was an important win for the Heat after losing back-to-back games to the Bucks and the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Miami returns to action on Saturday to face a surging Chicago Bulls side.
