After getting himself suspended for one-game at the beginning of the season for conduct detrimental to the team, Miami Heat swingman Dion Waiters was involved in one of the most bizarre health emergencies.
Per Andy Slater, Waiters reportedly overdosed on “gummies” during the Heat’s flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles on Friday.
The 27-year-old Syracuse product passed out as the plane landed and even had a seizure when he was finally woken up.

Waiters, who has yet to suit up for Miami in their first nine games of the seasons, was listed as out versus the Lakers due to an illness.
The team had an off night inside the Staples Center and eventually lost the match, 95-80.
After several run-ins with head coach Erik Spoelstra, Waiters has found himself out of place in the team’s crowded backcourt rotation of Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow. The emergence of impressive rookies Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro also did not help his case.
He appeared in just 44 games for the Heat last season, averaging 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
Waiters has had an up-and-down career since joining the Heat in the 2016-17 season. Although he has proven to be a gifted scorer for Miami, Waiters has been unable to remain healthy, playing in just a combined 120 regular season games in the last three seasons.
Spoelstra, meanwhile, has been tight-lipped about the disgruntled guard’s status with the team. The Heat bench boss also appeared to have taken a swipe at Waiters’ refusal to accept a reserve role in a recent interview.
