The Miami Heat won two championships behind the collective efforts of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in 2012 and 2013. However, their time together only lasted for four seasons, and there have been several debates as to who's more important to the franchise.

But rapper and entrepreneur Rick Ross, there should be no debates at all.

Ross was a guest on ESPN's First Take where he said that Wade is no doubt more important to the Heat than James.

“Without a doubt, Dwyane Wade, because without a doubt, if Dwyane Wade wasn’t there, LeBron wouldn’t have come to Miami. It took real class to bring him into the family and let him know, ‘you’re going to take my minutes and you’re going to be the face’, D-Wade did that with class and that’s why he would never not be number one.”

Ross made a strong point. The Heat drafted Wade back in 2003, where he immediately became the face of the franchise. Three years later, he led the team to a championship, and although he needed a lot of help from LeBron to win his second and third title, D-Wade was simply the heart and soul of the Heat.

A player who started his career with a specific team has undoubtedly more impact on fans as compared to a proven superstar who just joined that same team to chase rings and win championships. This is somehow similar to Kevin Durant's situation with the Golden State Warriors. Remember that according to rumors, one of the reasons why he left the Bay Area is because he doesn't like the fact that he can't outshine Stephen Curry, who was drafted by the team back in 2008.

KD joined the Warriors in 2016 and left three years later.

That's the reason why although LeBron has a special place in the hearts of die-hard Heat fans, they will never see him in the same way as they see Wade.

And that's not a bad thing at all.
