Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem agrees with Tyler Herro: the young guard should be in the same category as Luka Doncic, Trae Young and Ja Morant.

Herro made headlines recently when he claimed that he should be in the same conversation as those young stars in the NBA. Of course he received a wave of backlash and massive mockery for comparing himself to the trio, especially after the rather disappointing sophomore season he had.

However, for Haslem, his 21-year-old teammate was just speaking facts. After all, he's a player who has been to the NBA Finals and performed well for the team. Haslem then explained what has been holding back Herro from unleashing his full potential.

“Facts,” Haslem told GQ when asked about Herro's remarks. “He just hasn’t been given the keys. He came to a team that’s been successful and didn’t need a superstar right away…he came into a different situation. But skills-wise, talent wise, damn right. Them other boys ain’t been to the Finals yet, and that’s not to knock them, but you see what [Herro] did. Boy got game. Straight up and down. And if he was on a team, probably not a good team, and he got to go out there and do his thing? Damn right he’d be in those conversations.”

For what it's worth, though, Tyler Herro seems to be walking the talk with his brilliant start to the 2021-22 NBA season. Through three games so far, he has averaged 23.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He is putting numbers almost similar to Luka Doncic and Trae Young, and he's doing it while not really being the first option on offense for the Heat.

The question for Herro is if he can do it consistently, which the likes of Luk, Trae and Ja have already proven. But for Udonis Haslem, there's no question he can.
