Howard University concluded their homecoming in spectacular fashion by defeating MEAC rival Norfolk State 27-23. The Spartans aimed to spoil the Bison's homecoming weekend, but the Bison prevailed. Notable attendees included Lance Gross, a renowned actor, and Howard alumnus, as well as AJ Calloway, a former host of BET's 106 & Park.

The game started strongly for the Bison, with Quarterback Quinton Williams leading the charge. Williams completed 14 of 24 passes for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. However, the Spartans fought back, scoring 17 consecutive points late in the first quarter and throughout the second quarter. The Bison managed to reduce the deficit to 17-9 with a field goal just before halftime.

In the second half, the Bison's kicker Aaron Bickerton narrowed the lead to 5 points with another field goal, making it 17-12. The Spartans responded with a 50-yard field goal by Grandin Wilcox, extending their lead to 20-12 in the fourth quarter.

A game-changing moment occurred when Eden James, son of NFL Hall of Famer Edgerrin James and a Bison running back, caught a pass from Quinton Williams. James skillfully evaded defenders and sprinted 45 yards for a touchdown. Kasey Hawthorne added a two-point conversion, tying the game at 20 apiece. James finished the game with 26 rushing yards on eight attempts, with the touchdown reception being his sole score. Hawthorne contributed with four receptions for 67 yards.

With the Spartans leading 23-20 late in the game, the crowd's energy soared as the Bison embarked on their final drive. The Bison marched down the field and, with 1:15 remaining, Williams threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jarrett Hunter, giving the Bison their first lead since the first quarter at 27-23.

As time ticked away, the Spartans launched a deep pass that was intercepted by Kenny Gallop Jr., securing the victory for Howard University. The game ended with a skirmish, reflecting the intense rivalry between the two schools. Howard emerged triumphant, concluding their homecoming with a resounding victory. The Bison will face the Delaware State Hornets on October 28th, while the Spartans will host the Morgan State Bears for their own homecoming.
