This year’s preseason AP women's All-America team features a star-studded roster with basketball talents like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers. These outstanding players, each with their own distinct strengths, are poised to leave a significant mark on the upcoming women's college basketball season.

This is the second consecutive season that University of Iowa guard Clark has been named to the team, the AP’s Doug Feinberg reports. She is joined by her NCAA title game foe Louisiana State University forward Reese.

Clark and Reese squared off last season in the NCAA championship game where LSU defeated Iowa 102-85.

Reese famously taunted Clark, setting off a media frenzy in the aftermath of the game.

Clark and Reese are joined by Bueckers, a guard for UConn, who missed the entirety of the 2022-2023 season due to an ACL injury she got in the off-season.

Caitlin Clark was named AP Player of the Year last season, averaging 27.8 points, 8.6 assists, and 7.1 rebounds. The senior is 810 points behind Kelsey Plum’s NCAA record of 3,527 points. The star guard was on all 36 ballots from the national panel that selects the AP Top 25. Reese appeared on 35 ballots.

“Caitlin has grown the most this year in her leadership skills … She means a ton to our program and it’s hard to put it into words,” Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said, via the AP. “She helped break the NCAA record for attendance, and she’s growing the sport as a whole not just for Iowa.”

The three women's college basketball stars are joined on the AP preseason All-America team by Elizabeth Kitley of Virginia Tech, Cameron Brink of Stanford, and Mackenzie Holmes of Indiana. Kitley and Holmes tied in the voting for the fifth spot.
