The Jacksonville Jaguars just went through a tumultuous 2021 campaign under the tenure of former head coach Urban Meyer, who didn't even make it through one full season. After settling for a 3-14 record, the team is looking forward to advancing their rebuilding efforts with the help of newly hired tactician Doug Pederson and his coaching staff.

Several moves are expected to be made by the front office given they entered free agency with $39 million in available cap space to acquire reinforcements, per Spotrac, and Jacksonville has already made a big addition by securing a commitment from guard Brandon Scherff. If they manage to put even more talent around Trevor Lawrence in the offseason, the Jaguars will have more chances of becoming a more competent team in 2022.

With that said, let's take a look two other players Jacksonville can target in the 2022 NFL free agency period after agreeing to a new deal with Scherff.

Jacksonville Jaguars Free Agency Targets

2. Christian Kirk

The Jaguars already just improved their offensive line by bringing in Scherff, and another position group that needs significant depth is the wide receivers unit. With D.J. Chark missing several games due to injuries, the Jaguars had to rely heavily on the contributions of Marvin Jones Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr. back in 2021.

Chark is also set to become an unrestricted free agent and will most likely seek greener pastures elsewhere. With shallow depth at wideout, the Jaguars need a potent threat on offense, which they could potentially find in Christian Kirk.

The 25-year-old had a career season with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 as DeAndre Hopkins missed significant time due to a torn MCL injury. Kirk recorded 982 receiving yards on 77 catches and five touchdowns in 17 games played. Kirk mostly thrives in downfield situations, as he was often the recipient of long balls from Kyler Murray last season.

With Hopkins set to return in 2022, Kirk may not have the same amount of opportunities he previously had if he opts to return to the Cardinals. On that note, he could choose to ink a bigger contract and see more action on the field with a rebuilding Jaguars squad moving forward.

Surely enough, Christian Kirk would be able to serve as a valuable contributor in Jacksonville's offense and would also aid Trevor Lawrence's development in his second year in the pros. Adding a talented receiver in addition to a stud offensive lineman would certainly go a long way.

1. Haason Reddick

Linebacker Haason Reddick is shaping up to be a promising target for the Jaguars in the offseason. He previously had a solid 2021 campaign in which he put up 68 combined tackles, 18 QB hits, and 11.0 sacks in 16 games with the Carolina Panthers.

Reddick has a huge advantage in terms of his explosiveness and speed, which makes up for his lack of size at the position. With the Jaguars, he would be reuniting with a familiar face in defensive line coach Brentson Buckner, who previously held the same post in Arizona.

Now heading to unrestricted free agency, many teams will surely make a run at Reddick's services, but the Jaguars' cap space would allow them to put a bigger contract on the table. The potential addition of Reddick would be a major boost for the Jaguars' defense and would help them opposing offenses next season.
