The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to be one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season. Although they have managed to prove their doubters wrong up to this point, quarterback Blake Bortles continues to receive his fair share of criticism.

Needless to say, not much has changed with the Jaguars ready to square off with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round. When asked about how he deals with the negative noise out there, Bortles referenced the criticism Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James still deals with to this day.

“It'll probably never stop. There's people who think Lebron James sucks. So if that happens, I'm sure there will always be people who always think I suck.”

Some people may not take kindly to these comments, considering the notion of any comparison between Bortles and James is a bit lofty. However, the Jaguars quarterback is simply pointing out that people are always going to find a way to condemn any player, even one as elite as the three-time NBA champion and four-time MVP.

The harsh comments regarding Bortles gained traction when Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney referred to him as “trash.” Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jurrell Casey echoed this sentiment by essentially calling him a choke artist. In each case, Bortles responded with a joke in lieu of starting a feud.

That said, Bortles has done little to prove otherwise in terms of playoff success. The Jaguars' offense essentially rode the coattails of their elite defense in a 10-3 win over the Buffalo Bills in the wild card round. To make matters worse, Jacksonville is facing off against a bitter Steelers team looking for revenge.
