Just one look at the Jacksonville Jaguars and Doug Pederson already identified one of the biggest issues that hounded them under Urban Meyer in 2021: inconsistency.

While there were a lot of things that went wrong for the Jaguars with Meyer at the helm, Pederson still sees some positives on both offense and defense. The problem is they are all in “flashes,” which is why he aspires the team to develop that consistency and deliver night in and night out to turn things around come the 2022 campaign.

“I see talent, honestly,” Pederson said, via the Jaguars' website. “Is it perfect? No. You see flashes. You see the offense taking strides throughout the course of the year. You see the defense making those strides. Now, it's about, ‘We've got to be consistent every week.' There has to be consistency. There has to be ownership with that.”

The Jaguars won just three games under Urban Meyer in 2021, so it is quite clear Doug Pederson has a lot of work to do. However, the new Jacksonville coach is right that there are tons of potential left untapped there. After all, they still have Trevor Lawrence who hast yet to really show what he is capable of.

Now, Pederson's plan is to assess their roster needs and start from there. He needs the right personnel to execute his vision for the team and get that consistency he is aiming for.

“We're going to add talent. We're going to add competition. We're going to bring value to the roster. Every team does that. We're no exception to that. But I see talent here,” Pederson added.

The veteran coach has the track record for turning franchises around. Hopefully, he can work his magic again in Jacksonville.
