After splashing the cash on six free agents on Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars have decided to part ways with linebacker Myles Jack, who led the team in tackles last season.

This move will save the Jaguars around $8 million but cost them $4.8 million in dead money, according to ESPN. Jack had been extremely consistent with Jacksonville, registering at least 107 tackles in three of the last four seasons. However, the franchise did go out and sign Foye Oluokun, who led the NFL in tackles in 2021 and is seen as an upgrade.

Jack inked a four-year, $57 million extension with the Jaguars in September of 2019 which made him one of the highest-paid linebackers in the league at the time. He was extremely consistent during his time with the organization, playing a key part in their heroic run to the AFC Championship in 2017.

The Jaguars have been extremely busy, signing Christian Kirk, Brandon Scherff, Evan Engram, and the aforementioned Oluokon. Kirk comes over from the Cardinals and will essentially replace D.J. Chark, who signed with the Detroit Lions on a one-year deal.

Jack should have a very hot market after putting together so many impressive seasons for Jacksonville. Whoever gets him will be delighted because the linebacker is a force to be reckoned with.
