The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that they've re-signed guard AJ Cann to a three year deal, according to a new report about the matter.

According to USA Today, part of the reason Cann was re-signed to the Jaguars was to provide some much-needed support to incoming new quarterback Nick Foles. The three-year contract includes a payday of $15 million (though it's unclear about what the guaranteed payout will be), and was signed just before the 4:00 p.m. EST open market deadline.

Cann was the lone starter to make it through the whole season on the offensive line as his comrades were either on injured reserve or dealing with an injury.

AJ Cann, 27, was drafted in the third round (No. 67 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft and has been a starter since that season, starting in 59 total games. Throughout that tenure, many have viewed him as one of the offensive lines’ weakest links — the Jaguars, however, don't agree with this assessment.

Cann got his start by playing college football for South Carolina, but was redshirted in 2010 to delay his eligibility for the draft. In 2014, however, he started all 13 games and was named an All-American. Cann was a four-year starter, starting in 51 games, the second-most in school history to T. J. Johnson, who started 53 games. In 2016, Cann saw a full-time role on the offensive line, starting all 16 games at the right guard position for the Jaguars.

It will be interesting to see how AJ Cann is able to perform on the field with a new quarterback, but it looks like he's got it all under control.
