Minshew Mania might be inching ever closer to an end in Jacksonville. With the Jaguars already holding the number one pick in the draft this year, finding anyone who believes Jacksonville is taking someone other than Trevor Lawrence is near impossible. So the writing was already on the wall. Jacksonville's quarterback signing on Wednesday might be another indicator that Gardner Minshew could be on the move sooner rather than later.

CJ Beathard was signed by the Jaguars, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The former third-round pick out of Iowa was with the San Francisco 49ers his first few seasons and now he's in Jacksonville and in line to be Trevor Lawrence's backup. It's a savvy move by the Jaguars that now opens up an array of potential trade openings with Minshew.

Minshew is said to be highly thought of by many and rightfully so. In his first two seasons with the team, he showed he has a very high floor based on his early results in Jacksonville and he's still on a very team-friendly, rookie deal. With the Jaguars seemingly poised to take Lawrence, the asking price for Minshew might not be much.

One team to keep an eye on is the San Francisco 49ers, this according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Minshew's case is an interesting one as he wasn't highly coveted coming out of Washington State, drafted by the Jaguars with a sixth-round selection in 2019. But he raised eyebrows with his play during his two years when starting for Jacksonville. There is a belief among some that Minshew is a starting quarterback in the league and is a far better option than what a lot of teams currently have.

The Beathard move seems minute but it could tell a larger tale of what is to come for Gardner Minshew and his future.
