Nick Foles' career has been a series of starts and stops. Now firmly entrenched as a team's franchise signal-caller for the first time, the veteran quarterback has no ambitions of playing elsewhere. During his introductory press conference with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, Foles stressed a desire to finish his career with his new team.

Foles agreed to a four-year, $88 million contract with the Jaguars earlier this week, a deal that includes $50.2 million in guarantees. His decision to sign with Jacksonville came as no surprise, as multiple reports in previous weeks indicated it was always his likeliest destination – whether by trade or free agency. Once his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, elected against using the franchise tag on him late last month, it became only a matter of time until he would reach an agreement with the Jaguars.

Jacksonville released incumbent starter Blake Bortles in the wake of Foles coming aboard. It was just last offseason that Bortles, after helping his upstart team to the AFC Championship game, was rewarded with a three-year, $54 million extension.

Foles, 30, played in five games for Philadelphia last season, filling in for an injured Carson Wentz in both September and December. He guided Philadelphia to three consecutive wins to finish the season, earning a playoff berth in the process and further establishing himself as a winning quarterback.

Foles’ meteoric rise to stardom began the previous season when he took over for Wentz – then a leading MVP candidate – in mid-December and proceeded to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl, winning MVP honors.
