There is a lot on the line for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL offseason. One key move that fans of the franchise are looking at is Trevor Lawrence's contract extension. The quarterback still has not gotten a sufficient offer from Trent Baalke despite doing well under Coach Doug Pederson. So, what seems to be preventing them from giving him the money he deserves? Does it bother the young signal caller at all?

Trevor Lawrence, not too concerned

Teams quite literally fought for the right to draft Trevor Lawrence and it just happened that the Jaguars were the ones to win those sweepstakes. He was a beast at Clemson and was seen as a win-now prospect. For a rebuilding team that was led by Doug Pederson, it was a fairly easy choice. They acquired him but have only gotten a singular two-game postseason run so far.

Trevor Lawrence has only skyrocketed in value since then. He got a Pro Bowl nod back in 2022 after leading the league in interceptions the year before. His production took a massive step back in the latest season because of a wonky offensive line which got him sacked more than he liked. There is a lot of leverage here for the Jaguars quarterback. Is he not worried that Trent Baalke is not going to give him the contract that he desires? He actually is not concerned with it and is just doing his best to do good in Coach Doug Pederson's organized team activities, via  Jordan de Lugo of Generation Jaguar.

“Obviously, I'm aware of what's going on, but I try to keep my focus on doing my job out here. I have full belief that that'll take care of itself and that's not something I need to worry about,” he said.

The contract situation with the Jaguars

There is not much reason to worry. After all, he is not the lone quarterback in the league who has not gotten an extension during this NFL offseason. Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, and Tua Tagovailoa are all still waiting for their front offices to make a move. So, this adds more reason for him not to stress out. He also adds that there are people behind the scenes who are working to get him a deal anyway.

“That's why I pay people and hire people to do that for me. That's not my job. Obviously, I know what's going on. I'm aware of the situation. I think that's important, too. But, I try to keep all my focus and energy on being the best player I can be to help us win,” the Jaguars quarterback declared.

He totaled 4,016 passing yards on a 65.6% completion percentage. Like what was said before, he got the wind knocked off of him a lot and it looked like a drawback for someone like Trent Baalke. This was because the Jaguars offensive line allowed him to get sacked a career-high 35 times. Nonetheless, he is ready to put all of these aside, including the contract situation, such that he could focus on getting better during the NFL offseason. However, this does not mean that he's not anxious about the situation either.

“I think that would be ideal, just to put it behind us and keep moving and feel good about that going into training camp. Either way, like I've said before, I have the same job. So I can't always control all those factors, but I have the same job to do either way.  Of course, that'd be ideal to get it done as soon as you can and kind of move forward,” he concluded.

Will he get the figure that he desires in the coming months?
