The Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed interest in naming Urban Meyer the team's next head coach. While the Jaguars are still considering other candidates, Meyer has been assembling a coaching staff in the event that he takes the job, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Meyer is revered as a legendary college football coach and hasn't coached since the 2018 season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The 56-year-old coach retired in 2018 and has been spending his time as a college football analyst on Fox Sports.
Seeing that he spent plenty of years in the college ranks, he is gathering possible assistants from college football to possibly join his staff. However, whether or not Meyer becomes the head coach in Jacksonville is dependent on if he is truly interested in coming out of retirement.
When the Jaguars parted ways with Doug Marrone, reports immediately surfaced that they could pursue Meyer or Ryan Day as their next head coach. Whoever is hired by Jacksonville is going to have a choice of either Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
There were reports that Meyer was seeking a contract worth $12 million per year for him to join an NFL team. Amid the coaching search, Schefter revealed that Meyer met with Jaguars brass on Shad Khan's boat recently, which wasn't the first time they've spoken.

Seeing that Meyer is compiling a coaching staff, it appears he's itching to get back into coaching and is interested in making the jump to the NFL. The idea of returning to Florida — where he had plenty of success with the Gators — is likely a major reason why he's intrigued by the vacancy of the Jaguars.
