The New York Jets were one of the most hyped teams last offseason and then never delivered on their hype, largely due to Aaron Rodgers' Achilles injury. Now, the team's 2024 performance is one of the most anticipated storylines headed into the fall. The Jets made some significant investments to help upgrade the offense around Rodgers for a deep playoff run. One new face, rookie Malachi Corley, drew some big praise from Rodgers in a recent podcast episode.

Rodgers, in an interview with the Official Jets Podcast, called Malachi Corley “my favorite receiver in the draft.” That sounds like something that a QB could say about any new teammate. It especially raises eyebrows because Corley was the 12th receiver off the board and was in a draft with incredible prospects like Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze, and Malik Nabers.

“Now, he might not have been the best on paper in the draft,” Rodgers went on to say, “but I really felt like he was going to fit in with what we're trying to do — his mindset, his ferocity.”

This is an interesting nugget. The Jets' front office may have been aware of Rodgers' feelings towards Corley during the draft, which could help explain why they traded up to get him.

The Jets selected Malachi Corley with the first pick in the third round (65th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Corley is a two-time First-team All-Conference USA player who was one of the conference's top players over the last two seasons. He is a tackle-breaking machine and projects as a similar style of player to Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel. If he can become anything close to one of those players, the Jets will be thrilled that they picked Corley in the third round.

Aaron Rodgers has big plans for the Jets in 2024.

The NFL gave the Jets a loaded 2024 schedule with several primetime games. Rodgers recently appeared on Mad Dog Sports Radio and quipped that the NFL will get exactly what they want.

“What happens when we pay them back this year with 6 great primetime games?” Rodgers said. “What are they gonna say next year?”

The Jets have the following primetime games in 2024:

  • Week 1 – Monday Night Football – @ San Francisco 49ers
  • Week 3 – Thursday Night Football – vs. New England Patriots
  • Week 6 – Monday Night Football – vs. Buffalo Bills
  • Week 7 – Sunday Night Football – at Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Week 9 – Thursday Night Football – vs Houston Texans
  • Week 11 – Sunday Night Football vs. Indianapolis Colts

They also play against the Minnesota Vikings in London in Week 5. While not a primetime game, it will be a nationally-televised event. It will also be a significant strain on a schedule that already requires some quick turnarounds for New York. The London game is considered an away game for the Jets and home game for Vikings.

New York could also play on primetime in Week 18. The final week of the season has a flexible schedule so that playoff-relevant matchups can get flexed into primetime. The Jets play the Dolphins in Week 18, which could have implications for the AFC East title or for either team clinching the playoffs or jockeying for a better seed.
