The New York Jets are hoping for a comeback season now that their projected quarterback Aaron Rodgers is on his way back to the team. Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon in Week One vs. the Buffalo Bills and the team never recovered. The challenges of missing games led to a ‘bum' related motivation that Rodgers shared recently.

Rodgers' admission came during a time when Rodgers' health got a significant update during Jets OTAs. Rodgers and the Jets are set to make history after the release of the team's prime time games schedule.

The Jets' leading man for the 2024-2025 season had a mouthful to say about his motivation recently that was classic, vintage Rodgers.

Rodgers' ‘Bum' Confession on Injury Woes

Rodgers admitted that his injury setback from last season has put him in a salty mood heading into the 2024-2025 NFL year. He seemed to refer to his last year as ‘bum' status as judging by comments posted to the Twitter account of reporter Zack Rosenblatt.

The Jets QB also added that he believes the Jets “owe” the NFL a sterling performance after the NFL schedule included them in a historically large number of prime time games.

Jets' 2024 Offensive Outlook

The Jets 2024 depth chart shows a team with plenty of talent on the offensive side of the football but also one with plenty of question marks.

Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson give the 40-year-old Rodgers two premium weapons at the RB and WR positions, but they will need help from the team's complementary players.

Left tackle and former Dallas Cowboy Tyron Smith's usual display of dominance was a prominent feature of OTAs according to Rosenblatt, putting on a show for Coach Robert Saleh's team.

There is also the question of whether Rodgers will sink or swim in what is being unequivocally viewed as the twilight stage of his NFL career. Rodgers is known for his ability to freelance and make something out of nothing through his scrambling and pinpoint passing abilities.

Unlike Tom Brady, who thrived into his mid-40s and won Super Bowls late in his career, Rodgers is not considered to be a traditional pocket passer, at least not to the degree of the seven-time NFL champion.

There are plenty of question marks for the Jets this season, but there is also a tremendous of promise. Now, it's up to Rodgers, Garrett Wilson, Robert Saleh, Breece Hall and others to take the next step and become the superstars the NFL clearly believes they can be this season and beyond.

When asked about the Jets' winning expectations, Rodgers had the following to say.

“If I don't do what I'm capable of doing, then we're all probably going to be out of here.”
