Just a little while ago, the New York Jets had reached an agreement with cornerback Darryl Roberts, in a move that many considered advantageous.

According to USA Today, the terms of the deal have not been made public as of yet, and can't be made public until Wednesday.

But part of the reason Roberts was invited back to play for the Jets is because he more than proved his mettle as a player, filling in the position of both cornerback and safety when the injured Trumaine Johnson and Marcus Maye got knocked out of commission.

With all of that said, Darryl Roberts is a nice backup to have in the secondary. However, with Morris Claiborne and Buster Skrine both being free agents this offseason, Roberts could get more playing time next season. Expect the Jets to make other moves at the position, though.

Roberts is now the fifth cornerback in the lineup, joining Trumaine Johnson,  Rashard Robinson, Parry Nickerson and Derrick Jones.

A former college football player for Marshall, Darryl Roberts was initially drafted by the New England Patriots with the 247th pick of the 2015 NFL draft.

But his career as a Patriot was very short-lived, as, on September 1, 2015, Roberts was placed on season-ending injured reserve after injuring his wrist in the first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. He posted a 4.36 40 time in his pro day.

It will be interesting to see what type of deal Darryl Roberts got from Gang Green, considering that he's an otherwise unproven player.
