Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been having a fantastic season so far.
When the subject of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend arose, questions about Embiid entering the 3-point contest were brought up.
If he would entertain the possibility and be selected, Embiid would be the first center ever to enter the contest.
When asked by reporters if he would enter the contest, Embiid was non-committal.
“It would be nice. It would be nice. I don’t know”
Currently, the Sixers big man is shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc. In 19 games, Embiid has made 15 of 30 three-pointers, but shooting in a contest is a completely different ball game.
It requires making as many consecutive baskets as possible within a 60-second time frame.
Sure it can be plenty of fun, and even come with pressure, but those are conditions centers are not used to playing under.
“If I have a chance to be in it, I have to practice all that. But I think I can get it. I got to work on my quick release and you know most of the shots I take from three, I always hold my follow through. So in an All-Star game, it’s about getting it up. So I have work on that.”
Win or lose if he decided to give it a shot, Embiid would be in the history books.
