After a second-half collapse against the Los Angeles Clippers Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers hit the road Sunday, looking to get back on track. Next up on their schedule was a meeting with Dejounte Murray and the San Antonio Spurs.

When these teams met in Philly at the beginning of January, the Sixers completely dominated the matchup. Even with Joel Embiid putting on another dominant showing, that was not the case Sunday night. Following a late surge from the Spurs, things went down to the wire.

This time around, the Sixers managed to hang on and secure the win. Thanks to some timely buckets from Embiid down the stretch, they walked out of San Antonio with a 115-109 victory.

Looking at this matchup, many will zero in on Embiid's performance, and for good reason. The All-Star continued his MVP campaign with a monster stat line of 38 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in just 31 minutes of action. While these numbers will catch most people's eye, there is one underlying factor that led to the win.

Currently, the injury bug has taken a toll on the Sixers' roster. They were once again without the services of Seth Curry, Danny Green, Matisse Thybulle, and Shake Milton, all common fixtures in Doc Rivers' rotation. Despite being without all these key contributors, the supporting cast managed to step up and help fill in the gaps.

Rivers used an eight-man rotation Sunday, and each player contributed to the win. Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris helped lead the charge with Embiid by notching 18 points apiece, while the rest stuck to their roles and managed to contribute.

Two of the biggest standouts from the supporting cast were Furkan Korkmaz and Charlie Brown Jr. Both found themselves in the starting lineup against the Spurs and found ways to do a little bit of everything.

Korkmaz ended the night with 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists on an efficient 7-for-13 shooting from the floor. Utilizing him as a ball handler continues to net positive results and is something Rivers must continue experimenting with.

Since joining the Sixers, Brown has done a phenomenal job of identifying his role and never deviating from it. His performance against the Spurs was arguably his best to date. In 27 minutes of action, Brown tallied seven points, four rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

The Philadelphia product has not let his opportunity in the NBA go to waste. Every night, he provides good energy on the floor and has no problem doing the little things. Whether it's playing defense or crashing the glass, Brown does whatever is needed.

Even with Embiid taking his game to new heights, he can only do so much. If the Sixers want to remain competitive, they need others to play their part along with him. Playing without so many regular fixtures in the rotation is not easy, but the Sixers' supporting cast has to find ways to consistently produce if they want to go on another hot streak.
