The Los Angeles Dodgers are a really, really good baseball team. That much is already known. However, the Washington Nationals are expected to entertain offers for superstar Juan Soto prior to the 2022 MLB trade deadline. And the Dodgers would make sense for a number of reasons.

First off, LA's biggest questions stem from the outfield. Mookie Betts is a star without question. But Cody Bellinger has labored offensively for the past two years now. Chris Taylor has dealt with injury issues this season as well. If the Dodgers have a weakness, it is their outfield.

Secondly, the Dodgers have the prospect capital to swing a deal with Washington. It was just last season that LA competed a trade with the Nationals for Max Scherzer and Trea Turner. In the deal, the Dodgers sent a star-studded prospect package led by Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray. However, the team still has one of the best farm systems in baseball.

So what might a trade package look like in acquiring Juan Soto?

The Best Juan Soto Trade Package Dodgers Must Offer Nationals

The Package

I recently wrote an article detailing the 2 prospects whom should be untouchable for LA ahead of the 2022 MLB trade deadline. Those 2 prospects, SP Bobby Miller and catcher Diego Cartaya, both have extremely high-ceilings. But I also wrote in that same article that Juan Soto should be the one exception if he becomes available.

And sure enough, that is exactly what happened.

Now the Dodgers don't need to deal both players away. Yes, the Nationals are going to be aiming to acquire a historic trade package for the 23-year old outfielder. The Dodgers will need to trade one of the two prospects. Either one will suffice.

They could pair one of Bobby Miller or Diego Cartaya with another top 10 prospect. Pitchers Ryan Pepiot or Landon Knack are feasible options. No. 14 prospect Jose Ramos is producing big numbers in the minor leagues and may catch Washington's attention as well.

Other top 30 prospects who could be added to the deal include catcher Carson Taylor, pitcher Peter Heubeck, or shortstop Jacob Amaya. It would likely take at least three top 30 prospects to entice the Washington Nationals. And then the Dodgers may need to add even more prospect capital from the depths of their farm system.

Cody Bellinger?

Some rumors have stated Cody Bellinger could be utilized in a trade package. And given his struggles, LA may be open to trading the former MVP. However, the Nationals are years away from contending so landing current MLB talent doesn't make much sense.

Cody Bellinger could be a trade asset in a different deal for the Dodgers. But I doubt he would be included in a Juan Soto deal.

Can the Dodgers actually acquire Juan Soto?

So is this nothing more than a pipe dream? Or can the Dodgers actually acquire Juan Soto?

As aforementioned, it is going to take a major trade offer. But yes, the Dodgers have a chance of landing the superstar.

The Nationals and Dodgers have a history of dealing with one another which enhances LA's chance off the bat. The Nationals have been linked to teams such as the Padres, Yankees, Mets and others in reference to Soto.

But the Los Angeles Dodgers are always going to be a trade suitor for a star such as Juan Soto.
