Julianna Pena put on an incredible performance at UFC 269 against Amanda Nunes. The new bantamweight champion put on a gritty performance and pushed the champion all the way to the end.

There was a lot of speculation on the choke that ended the fight and whether or not it was tight. Many have said that Amanda Nunes was looking for a way out and tapped despite the choke not being deep.

Julianna Pena disagrees with that statement and made it clear that the choke at UFC 269 was very tight. She even thought she'd break the champion's neck if it lasted any longer.

“She had no choice but to tap,” Nunes said Monday on The MMA Hour. “People want to say she quit – she didn’t quit, she was getting choked. She had no choice but to tap – I would have broke her neck. She tapped because she had no choice.”

The big issue many had with the choke at UFC 269 was that Pena didn't have her ‘hooks' in. The hooks are the legs in this situation. Normally the hooks prevent the fighter from escaping.

“[My coach] Rick [Little] and I have been working this choke for a while, and it was the same pretty much as I got with Sara McMann,” she said.

Whether Amanda Nunes quit or not, it doesn't matter. The results of UFC 269 are that Julianna Pena is the new champion and she won via rear-naked-choke. The event will go down in MMA history after the shocking upset.
