Justin Timberlake was arrested early Tuesday morning for a DWI, and his lawyer has just clarified some details.

As we reported, Timberlake was picked up in Sag Harbor on Long Island, New York. The 43-year-old pop star was arraigned Tuesday morning and released without bail.

US Weekly has confirmed that he was arrested for one count of driving while intoxicated. Now, Ed Burke, his lawyer, has spoken out about the incident.

Justin Timberlake's lawyer issues statement

“The charge was a single count because he refused the breath test,” Burke said. “Mr. Timeberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.”

July 26 is the court date for the star.

Sag Harbor Police Department also released a statement saying, “On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, and upon investigation, it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition.”

Additionally, the statement added, “Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM, where he was released on his own recognizance.”

Justin Timberlake's mugshot

All of this led to, you guessed it, a mugshot. In it, his eyes are a bit bloodshot and glassy, suggesting he was out late. Additionally, photos of him leaving court have surfaced. In them, he's wearing dark sunglasses, which look like the same clothing from the time of the arrest.

It's not the first time the NSYNC alum has had a problem with alcohol (if this was the substance that caused his intoxication).

Back in 2019, he was seen with Alisha Wainwright, his Palmer costar, in New Orleans. They had their hands on each other and seemed pretty inappropriate, considering he was married to Jessica Biel at the time (and still is).

“I drank way too much that night, and I regret my behavior,” Timberlake said on Instagram. “I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son.”

He added, “I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.”

Currently, Timberlake is on his Forget Tomorrow world tour in support of his latest album, Everything I Thought It Was. His next gig is scheduled in Chicago's United Center on Friday and Saturday, and then two shows at New York's Madison Square Garden next week. It'll wrap up in Kentucky on July 9 and then head to Europe from the end of July through September. From there, he'll return to the States with his last show scheduled for December 20 in Kansas City.

As the situation with Justin Timberlake develops, we'll share details. In the meantime, don't be surprised if the musician will issue another apology on social media.
