Despite being drafted in 2017, Aleksandar Vezenkov resisted the lure of the NBA. Until this season, that is. Vezenkov signed a three-year, $20 million deal with the Sacramento Kings in July. Now, his life will undergo major changes, but the Kings will be there to support him.

Speaking about being so far from his home country of Bulgaria, Vezenkov praised his new team, and more importantly, his new teammates. It sounds like so far, he's enjoying the experience of being a Sacramento Kings player.

“I feel like home. Even though I’m here a couple days, I feel like I have a new family and that helps me a lot.” Vezenkov said about the support Kings players have shown him in his short time in the United States.

There were many important figures from the organization in attendance at Vezenkov's news conference. Kings head coach Mike Brown was there, as well as assistant coach Luke Loucks and vice president of basketball engagement Alvin Gentry.

Vezenkov's teammates also made sure to be in attendance, most notably De’Aaron Fox and Keegan Murray.

The Kings shocked the NBA world by finishing atop the Pacific Division last season, posting a 48-34 record. Their playoff appearance was the franchise's first since the 2005-06 season.

Adding a player of Vezenkov's caliber (he won the 2022-23 EuroLeague MVP) will be an enormous lift to the Kings' chances to take the next step in 2023. While chemistry and on-court fit issues may pop up, it sure seems like Vezenkov is comfortable calling Sacramento home for now. Credit where it's due to the Kings organization for that.
