Sacramento Kings forward Jabari Parker will reportedly not test the free-agent market as he recently picked up his $6.5 million player option for next season to remain with the team, according to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania. He is heading to the final year of his current two-year, $13 million contract signed with the Atlanta Hawks back in July 2019.

Despite not being the highly-touted player that he once was coming out of college, the former Duke Blue Devil remains to be a solid player in recent seasons. He previously ended a four-year stint with the Milwaukee Bucks who drafted him second overall in the 2014 NBA Draft.

He went on to have a brief stint with his hometown team in the Chicago Bulls back in the 2018-2019 season. In February of 2019, he was traded along with Bobby Portis and a 2023 second-round pick to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Otto Porter.

Jabari Parker wouldn't last long in the nation's capital as he eventually signed with the Hawks and played in 35 games before finding his way to Sacramento. He only had six appearances for the Kings where he averaged norms of 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game on 58.3% shooting from the field before the season was abruptly shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the 2019-2020 season, the Kings had another campaign that went down the drain as they tallied a 31-41 record and nabbed 12th place in the loaded Western Conference to miss the playoffs for the 14th-straight year. Hopefully, the incoming eight-year veteran will be able to find his place in the Kings rotation and emerge as a valuable contributor for the team moving forward.
