The New York Knicks have looked far from the playoff contender that many expected them to be. Julius Randle's inability to replicate the magic that he had last season is a big reason why.
Knicks fans have let their frustrations out on Randle and the Knicks at Madison Square Garden with a smattering of boos when things take a turn for the worst. They let him hear it again during their MSG loss against the Washington Wizards on Thursday night.
Gilbert Arenas sent out an “I-told-you-so” to the Knicks star after the latest incident, claiming he previously tried to warn Randle about supposedly fair-weather fans in New York.
“the Knick fans is about to boo the knicks tomorrow ON XMAS and give #icetrae❄️ a standing ovation and he ain't playing 😬and they wonder why every opponent star lights that building up 🤣 they so ass backwards”
The Knicks were expected by most to be one of the most solid teams in the Eastern Conference. With another year of stability under their belt, and some interesting additions in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier, there was reason for optimism in the Big Apple.
But they currently stand at 12th place in the East, a couple of games away from the play-in tournament and far from a guaranteed postseason slot like they did last season.
