Jarrett Jack has seen himself go from a roster hopeful to the starting point guard of the New York Knicks, soon after becoming inactive as the All-Star break came to a close.

Due to the acquisition of Emmanuel Mudiay in a three-team trade, the blow of Kristaps Porzingis' season-ending injury, and eight straight losses coming into the mid-February festivities, head coach Jeff Hornacek vowed to play his young guys extended minutes as the team winds down the season.

Jack, a veteran of this league, could potentially consider a buyout with the Knicks to give him an opportunity to team up with a contender.

“I've never done it before to jump from one team in the middle of the season to a playoff squad. I know that's what other guys have done. To be honest, I don't really know,” Jack said, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News. “Maybe I do need to sit down and look at a list of what my best possible options are. But as of today I'm with the Knicks and want to help in any capacity I can.”

Jack has been a DNP-coach's decision scratch in the last three games since the All-Star break, with the run of minutes going to younger point guards like Mudiay, the emerging Trey Burke, and rookie Frank Ntilikina.

The Georgia Tech product did his job impeccably during the season, but the Knicks took a change of direction, choosing to be a full-go on the development of their players with making the playoffs now out of the question.
