The New York Knicks have just won their first NBA playoff game in eight years. But if you didn't know it, you'd think they just won a championship.

Check out the epic scene outside of Madison Square Garden:

For a franchise as tortured as the Knicks over the past few decades, you love to see it. Nobody's going to fault them for celebrating like they're raising a banner after their first taste of success in a long while. This, especially given the team they're winning with. Their roster feels like an island of misfit toys, until the toys decided that they were better than everyone perceived them to be. That's partly what makes their juxtaposition against the Brooklyn Nets that much more compelling.

Julius Randle, Reggie Bullock, Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, and Derrick Rose have all been on multiple NBA teams looking for a home. RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley have both been slighted as prospects and have that same energy in contributing to the team's success.

This New York Knicks win doesn't guarantee anything yet as the series shifts to Atlanta, but the moment will resonate for quite some time among New Yorkers and avid supporters, that's for sure.
