New York Knicks guard was nearly erased off the face of this planet when he got viciously dunked on by New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis in last Saturday’s game at the Madison Square Garden. Davis’ slam was amazing enough to be a top candidate for dunk of the year, but perhaps even more impressive is the way Baker is coping after being cartoonishly yammed on.
Instead of isolating himself in the forest until everyone exhausted themselves of talking about that dunk, Baker is using humor and good old self-deprecation to deal with the situation he suddenly found himself in, per Ian Begley of ESPN.
See, Baker is just fine. People can now stop lighting candles in his memory outside The Garden.
While fans will incessantly mock players who get dunked on, guys like Bakers should still be commended for playing defense despite seeing their lives flash right in front of them.
To put some respect on Baker’s name, he was one of the best point guards in college when he was still playing for the Wichita State Shockers team that exceeded expectations by constantly getting high seeds in the National Tournament.
